Proposal Writer is responsible for researching, writing and editing letters, fundraising proposals and stewardship material as requested by fundraisers for Florida based individual, foundation and corporate donors to the Conservancy’s local and global initiatives. Works closely with Florida based fundraisers and campaign priority managers and proposal writers across the country. S/he produces, manages and meets deadlines for proposal and stewardship submissions. S/he will serve as primary writer/editor for critical department communications.
The ideal candidate will be an excellent writer with a core interest in science and conservation. S/he will be called on to translate complex concepts to lay language with ease and also to integrate the donor’s individual interests to the written material. The Nature Conservancy is seeking a Donor Relations Manager for Florida, location in Florida is negotiable. The Donor Relations Manager assists in the creation and implementation of strategies for the ongoing cultivation of donors capable of major and/or deferred gifts. Conducts initial exploratory meetings with donors and prospects to determine capacity for major gifts. Conducts donor calls to cultivate relationships with donors and prospects. Maintains ongoing contact with past and current donors. Moves major and planned giving ‘suspects’ to prospect pool for management by senior fundraising staff and integration into the Moves Management process. Works on a variety of activities which may include providing program information to prospects and drafting routine correspondence and acknowledgments. Uses the fundraising management system (FMS) to update donor information, produce reports, perform analysis, and track and cultivate donors. RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Council’s Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer leads the Council to meet the needs of girls ages five to seventeen through high quality programs and support systems. The CEO will promote Girl Scout visibility and be an ambassador of Girl Scouting in the communities served by the Council.
Operational responsibilities include communications and community relations; marketing; fund development; program delivery; membership and diversity enhancement; as well as strategic planning; financial management; and property management. The candidate should have a strong background in managing an experienced staff and understand the relationship and value of volunteers working in partnership with staff to accomplish council goals and objectives.
BACKGROUND: A minimum of 5 years’ comparable executive level experience is required. In addition, demonstrated competency is required across a broad range of managerial functions appropriate to an organization of comparable size, including planning, financial management, fund development, communications, board relations, marketing, property management and program delivery. The successful candidate will possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or demonstrate equivalent training and development qualifications, with advanced education and training desired. Prior exposure to Girl Scouting or other youth-serving organization is preferred.
